EDM number 236 in 1989-90, proposed by Paul Flynn on 19/12/1989.

That this House expresses its outrage at the bloody repression of demonstrators in Timisoara; and urges the Government to intensify the work of the Romanian BBC World Service to ensure that all Romanians are informed of the truth of these brutal killings and to initiate with the Soviet Union a Pan-European campaign to expose the excesses of Ceausescu, to pressurise his regime with economic sanctions and to mount an information campaign to ensure that all the peoples of Romania are fully aware that they are now living in Europe's last Stalinist gulag.
