Israeli Ban On Palestinian Leaders

EDM number 283 in 1989-90, proposed by George Galloway on 11/01/1990.

That this House condemns the travel restrictions recently imposed on local Palestinian leaders by the Israeli occupation authorities; notes that one of those affected, Dr Feisal Husseini, has regularly held discussions with Her Majesty's Government and with the United States Government and is regarded by all interested parties as an indispensible negotiating partner in any peaceful solution to the continuing conflict; believes that the ban on Dr Husseini travelling abroad or to the West Bank or Gaza Strip can only harm the prospects of peace; and calls on Her Majesty's Government and the European Community to demand the withdrawal of these restrictions forthwith.
