Doctors in England and Wales and the Liberal Democrats' Survey of General Practitioners

EDM number 293 in 1989-90, proposed by Charles Kennedy on 15/01/1990.

That this House notes that 94 per cent. of the 1,400 doctors who responded to a Liberal Democrat Survey of general practitioners in England and Wales believe that patients will lose from the proposed health service review, and that 88 per cent. are against general practitioners being able to buy hospital care for their patients in the hospital of their choice, that 84 per cent. are against indicative drug budgets for local doctors, that the same percentage do not think enough resources are available for preventive medicine and that 88 per cent. believe the reforms will place restrictions on their ability to cater for patients with special needs.
