Conduct Of The Hon. Member For Govan

EDM number 359 in 1989-90, proposed by David Steel on 23/01/1990.

That this House endorses the view of the Leader of the House in having 'nothing but contempt' for the way in which the honourable Member for Govan raised in the House on Wednesday 17th January and Thursday 18th January rumours which had been rife in Scotland for weeks concerning the private lives of the judiciary on which the Lord President of the Court of Session had taken action; notes that the only interests served by giving further currency to such matters were those of the sleazy sections of the press; and deplores the fact that on neither occasion did the honourable Member for Govan declare his own pecuniary interest as a regular contributor to the Scottish editions of the Sun.

This motion has been ammended, see 1476A1.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
