South Africa And Eastern Europe

EDM number 362 in 1989-90, proposed by George Galloway on 23/01/1990.

That this House regrets the official visit to Hungary by the South African Foreign Minister Pik Botha and the signs that Hungary and South Africa are moving towards establishing diplomatic relations; notes that the South African Foreign Office are targetting other East European countries, principally Poland and East Germany, in an attempt to end their relative international isolation; and hopes that a sad and unexpected result of the democratic upheaval in Europe is not the opening of a new pro-Apartheid front in East and Central Europe.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
