National Savings Stocks And Bond Office

EDM number 610 in 1989-90, proposed by Geoffrey Dickens on 26/02/1990.

That this House notes that reports have emerged alleging that the National Savings Stocks and Bond Office at Lytham St. Annes has been used to launder payments to spies and informers and that such payments are avoiding the scrutiny of the Inland Revenue by being paid as for prize winners from the Ernie draw; expresses concern that such arrangements will cast into doubt the impartiality of the prize draw; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to make a statement.
