Conduct Of The Right Honourable Member For Yeovil;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 725A1 in 1989-90, proposed by James Wallace on 15/03/1990.

Leave out from second 'the' to end and add 'Labour Party towards their Mid-Staffordshire by-election candidate; believes that the Right honourable Member for Yeovil quite properly drew attention to the fact that Ms Heal is being treated by the Labour Party "as if she were Walworth Road's barbie doll"; notes that she has been surrounded and gagged by Walworth Road minders and deplores this as deeply offensive to women; regrets that this attitude is also reflected in Labour's Mid-Staffordshire Mail literature which could be reproduced without amendment as a Conservative leaflet in any Home Counties seat; for example, notes that Ms Heal asks people to vote for her because "she's small and slender and soft musical voice", because "I dated a Tory", because "it ... hits me, when I spend, say ú60 on a dress, that I know some people who have to manage for a week on half that much" and because "I must always have a clean handkerchief - I get that from my grandmother too"; calls on the Labour Party to name any male Labour by-election candidate who has used a similar line; and urges Labour to let their candidate prove that she has a mind of her own during the remainder of the campaign.'.

This is a ammendment to 725.
