Football Stickers

EDM number 734 in 1989-90, proposed by Harry Barnes on 14/03/1990.

That this House deplores the exploitation of young football fans for easy profits by firms such as Orbis Publishing with its World Cup 90 series of fortnightly folders containing stickers of famous footballers; notes that since these collections of stickers are supposed to be random, collectors either have to buy more of the folders in the hope of cobbling together a full collection or take up the offer of buying bulk amounts of stickers, which may then not achieve a full set for the young purchaser; and calls upon such publishing companies to show some restraint in the way they treat their young customers and to ensure that supplies of stickers are available to purchase where their young customers can come to know exactly what they are purchasing.
