Canterbury City Council Rent Increase

That this House expresses its concern that Canterbury City Council is setting its rent increase for council tenants at 55 per cent.; notes that this increase is the highest percentage rent increase in the United Kingdom; believes that such an increase is totally uncalled for; further notes the extreme hardship that this will cause to the tenants of Canterbury District; and calls upon the Secretary of State to use his influence to get Canterbury City Council to reconsider its decision and to set its rent increase at a reasonable level.
