Mar Lodge Estate

EDM number 896 in 1989-90, proposed by Alex Salmond on 25/04/1990.

That this House notes with grave concern the fact that the future ownership of 77,000 acres of Scottish land, the Mar Lodge Estate, can be settled in the United States divorce courts; demands that the Government take steps to protect the best interests of the estate workers caught in the middle of this case; and calls for a two tier, elected land commission to be established, which would ensure that such Scottish estates are developed in the best interests of the people of Scotland.
