Dangers Of Wild Bird Food

EDM number 911 in 1989-90, proposed by Alan Beith on 30/04/1990.

That this House notes with concern that no controls exist on the content of aflatoxin in nuts sold as wild bird food, although controls exist in respect of food destined for farm animals and captive birds; further notes that aflatoxin is so lethal that a few pounds of nuts infected with aflatoxin would be enough to kill a cow; is concerned that wild birds may be dying as a result of this loophole; and calls upon the Government to act promptly to extend the remit of the Feeding Stuffs Regulations 1982 to protect the population of British wild birds.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
