That this House believes that any reduction in the armed forces should not include the amalgamation or disbandment of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, a regiment with a distinguished reputation; further recognises the pride and loyalty that the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders command throughout the Highland community; acknowledges their premier strength in the Scottish Division with a first class recruiting and retention record; and urges the Secretary of State for Defence to accept this when assessing reductions in armed forces.
