Mediterranean Monk Seals

EDM number 113 in 1990-91, proposed by Bowen Wells on 22/11/1990.

That this House deplores the proposed capture of five to seven Mediterranean monk seals by the French Marineland at Antibes from a Moroccan colony of seals; notes that the Mediterranean monk seal is one of the 12 most endangered animals in the world, and that the capture is opposed by conservationists and authorities worldwide; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to convey the views of the House on this matter to both the French Government and the European Commission as a matter of urgency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs.
