New Arms Race

That this House is alarmed that, in defiance of the declared aims of President Bush and other Western leaders a new high tech, 'smart bomb' arms race is roaring ahead; notes that since the Gulf War the United States has sold $15 billion worth of weapons to Middle East countries and $7 billion worth world-wide in one month, July 1991; emphasises that uncontrolled arms sales further threaten world stability and peace and add to impoverishment of under-developed countries; and calls for United Nations action to curb arms proliferation.
