Promoting Tenant Participation In Rural Areas

EDM number 1270 in 1990-91, proposed by Clive Soley on 16/10/1991.

That this House applauds the work of the Tenant Participation Advisory Service in helping to promote and develop tenant participation in all aspects of their housing service for tenants of social housing in rural areas; is concerned that the new interest and enthusiasm amongst the tenants will be destroyed if the work is not able to continue; notes that the newly-formed Tenant Participation Forum for Cumbria is supporting a joint initiative by TPAS and the Cumbria Rural Housing Group to set up a special promotion agency to help tenants and staff of local authorities and housing associations across Cumbria which, as an important initiative, the first of its kind, can serve as a model to help encourage tenants and housing authorities in other rural areas; and therefore calls upon the Government to support the joint TPAS/Cumbria Rural Housing Group project and to provide the grant which has been requested for the project.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
