British Aerospace (No. 2) - Closure At Kingston
EDM number 163 in 1990-91, proposed by Audrey Wise on 04/12/1990.
That this House notes that Kingston upon Thames is represented by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who is unlikely to table a motion deploring the projected closure of the British Aerospace plant at Kingston with a loss of 2,000 jobs; notes that, along with the closure at Preston, this will bring a loss of 5,000 British Aerospace jobs in all; and calls on the Right honourable Member for Kingston upon Thames to show concern for his constituents and to use his high position to persuade his Right honourable Friend the Prime Minister that the Government has a responsibility to take steps to ensure that these jobs are not lost and plants not closed, and that constructive solutions are found.
This motion has been signed by a total of 59 MPs.
