Loss Of Jobs In Liverpool

EDM number 178 in 1990-91, proposed by David Alton on 06/12/1990.

That this House notes with concern the loss of 112 jobs at the Plessey Crypto factory in Wavertree, Liverpool, and a further 240 jobs at Bear Brand, Woolton, Liverpool; and, in the light of the profitability of the two parent companies involved, urges that these decisions be reconsidered, especially having regard to the existing 20 per cent levels of unacceptably high unemployment in the city; and calls on the Departments of Trade and Employment to intervene urgently in a last ditch attempt to save these jobs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 5 MPs.
