Hospital Privatisation

EDM number 236 in 1990-91, proposed by Max Madden on 13/12/1990.

That this House recognises it would be the intention of the next Labour government to take immediate action against any Health Service management team whose culpable act led to a deterioration in health care; notes that in opposition to public opinion, and contrary to the wishes of consultants, doctors, nurses, midwives and technicians - in fact all hospital employees - unrepresentative management applications to change many hospitals to trusts, such as the Rugby St. Cross and the Coventry Walsgrave Hospital, have been made; and in the circumstances calls on all honourable Members to arrange urgent meetings with all hospital trust applicants so as to convey to them the grave concern of the House, as this will lead to a lower standard of health care, and further to this discuss with them any unmandated application.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
