PENSIONERS' LOBBY
EDM number 47 in 1990-91, proposed by Harry Barnes on 08/11/1990.
That this House welcomed with pleasure the countrywide pensioners' representatives and the 40-strong Coventry deputation which attended the pensioners' lobby on 8th November; wishes to put on record its support of their ú75 basic pension claim which short term would redress the hardship suffered by pensioners who exist on the basic state pension; condemns the anomalies of a pension system which places a price tag of 25 pence on the years of full employment and public voluntary work of Mrs Winter of 8 Benington Crescent, Holyhead, Coventry; furthermore is seriously concerned as undue physical stress was experienced by many pensioners who attended the lobby; and recognises that urgent steps must be taken to ensure that future pensioners' representatives enter the House of Commons with the aplomb and dignity which is theirs by right.
