Support For The United Nations And Ending Conflict In Jammu And Kashmir

EDM number 541 in 1990-91, proposed by John Wheeler on 27/02/1991.

That this House congratulates Her Majesty's forces for their significant contribution to the liberation of Kuwait in accordance with United Nations resolutions; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to help solve the long standing conflict between India and Pakistan by supporting the implementation of United Nations resolutions which provide for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to decide through a fair and impartial plebiscite which country they wish to belong to and recognise that such a verdict of the people would also be within the spirit of the Simla Agreement.
