Defence Components Exhibition

EDM number 552 in 1990-91, proposed by Max Madden on 28/02/1991.

That this House recognises that the trade in arms has lead to greater instability and repression, not peace and freedom; and calls for the cancellation of the Defence Components and Equipment Exhibition at Birmingham National Exhibition Centre from 14th May, for the closure of the Government's Defence Export Services Organisation and International Military Services and for the staff to be redeployed in non-military work, and for a guarantee to existing defence workers of the safeguarding of their jobs through alternative production which is socially useful.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
