Arrest Of Editor In Kenya

EDM number 565 in 1990-91, proposed by David Steel on 05/03/1991.

That this House notes with regret that Kenya is continuing to lose its reputation as a model of enlightened Government on the continent of Africa; deplores the arrest of the editor of Nairobi Law Monthly, Mr Gitobu Imanyara, who has published mildly critical articles, and the confiscation of copies of the magazine; and calls on the Government of Kenya to cease such harrassment, to live with criticism and to release the editor forthwith.
