That this House is deeply concerned at reports that Bioplan Limited, the private health care company which recently announced a number of deals to build private hospitals or day surgery units on lands purchased or leased from the National Health Service in Halesowen, Wrexham, Caterham, Crewe, Oxford, Coventry, Kings Lynn & Northwood, is being investigated by the Stock Exchange for share dealings; further notes that the company is said to be in talks with Compagnie Generale des Eaux, which has full control of American Medical International health group; notes that this would give AMI a controlling position in the NHS units concerned; and demands an immediate reference by the Department of Trade and Industry to the Monopolies & Mergers Commission.
