Elections In India

EDM number 604 in 1990-91, proposed by Max Madden on 13/03/1991.

That this House notes the resignation of the Prime Minister of India and the dissolution of the Indian Parliament; trusts the people of all states will soon be able to exercise their right, in free and fair elections, to elect the Government of their choice; and believes the people of all states, including the people of Punjab and Kashmir, who have suffered brutal direct rule & gross human rights violations for too long, should be able to elect their own representatives and are entitled to expect political parties to accept the legitimacy of their right to self-determination, the rule of law and respect for human rights.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
