Reform Of Local Government

EDM number 613 in 1990-91, proposed by Elizabeth Peacock on 18/03/1991.

That this House notes the continuing concern over an effective structure for local Government in England and Wales; believes that the present two tier system encourages waste and weakens accountability; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to abolish the present two tier structure and replace it with a single tier of all-purpose local authorities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs.
