Aftermath Of Gulf War

EDM number 699 in 1990-91, proposed by Jimmy Wray on 15/04/1991.

That this House demands from Her Majesty's Government a clear explanation as to why the same coalition which carried out a war and used expensive and sophisticated weaponry and information technology to crush the Iraqi armed forces shows such inability to cope with the aftermath of war; is appalled at the daily sight of Turkish troops barring access to and looting food and clothing sent for the Kurdish Refugees which lie just yards from the intended beneficiaries, thus confirming past experiences of the brutality and inhumanity of that army and its political masters; protests most vehemently at the treatment of Palestinian, Filipino and other foreign residents in Kuwait, especially women, by armed gangs of supporters of the discredited Al-Sabah ruling family and demands a more credible support for human rights from the troops which gave the Al-Sabah their power back; and expresses its deep sorrow to all the Kurdish victims and their relatives who were led to believe that the Gulf War was about freedom, justice and human rights, in the name of international law and order.
