Walvis Bay

That this House notes the visit of State President F. W. de Klerk of the Republic of South Africa; further notes that in defiance of United Nations Resolution 432 of 1978 the Republic of South Africa still illegally occupies Walvis Bay, Namibia's only deep water port; notes that talks between the Government of the Republic of Namibia and the Republic of South Africa over the future of Walvis Bay, which began on 14th March, were speedily adjourned with no agreed statement or timetable for another meeting; and requests Her Majesty's Government to urge the South African Government to continue to negotiate and to adhere to United Nations Resolution 432, thereby ensuring the speedy return of Walvis Bay to the Republic of Namibia.
