Skateboarding Safety

EDM number 766 in 1990-91, proposed by David Hinchliffe on 29/04/1991.

That this House notes with concern the increasing number of incidents of injury and fatality involving children and young persons arising as a result of accidents where skateboard riders have collided with moving motor vehicles; believes that Government legislation should be introduced as a matter of urgency to prevent the use of skateboards in the immediate vicinity of a public highway; and further urges the Government, in conjunction with local authorities, road safety committees and the police, to take steps to create or designate safe skateboarding areas in all local communities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
