British Crisp Industry

EDM number 772 in 1990-91, proposed by Dawn Primarolo on 30/04/1991.

That this House deplores the omission of crisps and savoury snacks from the proposed EC sweeteners directive; notes that this omission has no health or scientific justification and that it would risk job losses and jeopardise a United Kingdom market which has developed over the past 15 years and is now worth ú70 million a year; and urges Ministers to take all necessary steps to save the great British crisp and ensure that British crisps and snacks of all flavours can continue to be enjoyed by consumers.

This motion has been signed by a total of 73 MPs.
