Antarctica Wilderness Park

EDM number 798 in 1990-91, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 03/05/1991.

That this House congratulates Greenpeace and other campaigners for their success in gaining a fifty year moratorium on mining activities in Antarctica; deplores the tactics of Her Majesty's Government in trying to persuade other countries that the continent should be exploited for commercial mining operations; and resolves that the continent should be a wilderness park with no commercial exploration or exploitation of natural resources and a ban on any military activities.
