That this House regards as a feeble exercise the press conference on Friday 17th May at which the Health Minister and Chief Medical Officer referred to the large increase in AIDS and HIV infection amongst heterosexual men and women, and amongst pregnant women, but had nothing to offer to combat the problem; notes that no information was given on how women can have safe sex and get pregnant, whether women should require their husbands and lovers to be tested before they seek to become pregnant and what easily available arrangements there are for this; also notes that the Ministry of Health representatives also gave no consideration to addressing the problem of pregnant women suffering unknowingly from AIDS, as shown from the anonymous tests, and and above all refused to commit any extra money to tackle either the spread of AIDS or the medical and social problems of individuals with the infection; and concludes that this amounts to appalling complacency.
