Increased Crime In Calderdale
EDM number 925 in 1990-91, proposed by Alice Mahon on 05/06/1991.
That this House is appalled at the huge increase in the levels of crime nationwide; is particularly concerned at the rise in crime in Calderdale where an average of 66 crimes a day are committed; notes there is not one single category of crime where the figures have gone down; further notes that in the Halifax sub-division an average of 35 crimes are committed every 24 hours; and in the face of this shocking situation calls upon the Home Secretary to act now by funding the West Yorkshire Police Authority to a level at which they can tackle this terrible problem.
