Coldstream Guardsmen

EDM number 929 in 1990-91, proposed by John Cummings on 06/06/1991.

That this House calls upon the Prime Minister, as a matter of urgency, to re-open the inquiry into the deaths and injuries sustained by Coldstream Guardsmen when the lorry and trailer in which they were travelling veered off the road and plunged 100 feet over a cliff; notes with concern that eight guardsmen were killed and 13 were seriously injured in the incident which occurred some 18 months ago and that important questions concerning the experience of the driver and the maintenance of the vehicles' brakes had not been addressed at the inquest; and requires the Ministry of Defence to make available to the families of the deceased and injured the report of the internal investigation which was carried out by military officials in Cyprus.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
