Sir Henry Doulton Statue, Burslem, Stoke-On-trent

EDM number 942 in 1990-91, proposed by Joan Walley on 11/06/1991.

That this House congratulates Stoke-on-Trent City Council on its initiative and work in the regeneration of Burslem town centre; warmly welcomes the presentation by Royal Doulton Ltd. on 11th June to the city of the bronze statue of Sir Henry Doulton, finely crafted by Colin Melbourn, which will take pride of place in the Market Place Enhancement Scheme; and urges other cities to look at the good example set by Stoke-on-Trent City Council in its close work with the Civic Trust and local commerce and industry, so that similar regenerations of cities can take place across the country.
