Alcohol Meters In Public Houses
EDM number 986 in 1990-91, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 18/06/1991.
That this House supports the clear messages from the Minister of Roads that drinking and driving wrecks lives and that the best advice is to drink no alcohol before driving; and believes it is not necessary to legislate against the possibility that a few alcohol meters might be installed but advises a prominent notice on each one to invite any driver seeking to establish whether the legal limit is close to decide against driving and the ask the publican to arrange a journey home with an alcohol-free driver.
This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
