PROPOSED CLOSURE OF OLD PEOPLE'S HOMES IN LEICESTER

EDM number 152 in 1991-92, proposed by Greville Janner on 13/11/1991.

That this House deplores the proposal to close three old people's homes in Leicester, Curzon House, Dale House and Simon Lodge; calls on Leicestershire County Council to recognise that these are people's homes and that they must not be turned out in their old age; commends the staff of the homes for the care, the affection and the effort with which they have created and maintained contentment for the residents; and calls on councillors of all parties who care for the wellbeing of the elderly to vote against these closures.
