EDM number 166 in 1991-92, proposed by Ronnie Fearn on 14/11/1991.

That this House is alarmed by the growing number of young people who are homeless; believes that current social security provisions have created poverty traps for young people; calls upon the Government immediately to restore income support to the under 25's and to pay income support in advance to enable young people seeking accommodation to pay rent in advance; and further calls upon the Government to restore housing benefits and other benefits to students.
