The Reverend Dr Donald Macdonald

EDM number 182 in 1991-92, proposed by Norman Hogg on 18/11/1991.

That this House deeply regrets the decision of Glasgow Presbytery of the Church of Scotland to refuse the renewal of the Reverend Dr Donald Macdonald's licence to practice after 27 years' devoted service to the ministry of the Kirk in Glasgow, most notably at St Columba's, the city's Gaelic church; recalls his work for the Iona Community as deputy leader and as founder of Partick Housing Association; congratulates the former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Right Reverend Dr Andrew Heron, Mr Bob Kernohan, former editor of Life and Work, and professor J. Ross Harper, who supported Dr Macdonald's case; and calls upon the Presbytery of Glasgow urgently to reconsider its decision.
