Gas Explosion In Hammersmith
That this House recognises that the scale and intensity of the explosion of liquid petroleum gas in College Park, Hammersmith, which sent containers flying for up to a half a mile, some of which landed in a school and on the main Paddington to South Wales railway line as well as demolishing a number of homes could be repeated at other liquid petroleum gas storage sites and result in serious loss of life unless the Secretaries of State for Environment and Employment carry out an urgent review of the planning and safety rules relating to these sites; and further commends the emergency services, the local residents and council officers who reacted to an alarming incident with bravery and compassion.
