That this House congratulates the Royal College of Midwives on its 110th Anniversary; notes its significant contribution to the development of midwifery practice and education since 10th December 1881, as the first professional organisation for women employed in healthcare; believes that midwives' skills have helped reduce the levels of maternal and baby deaths between 1881 and 1991; and acknowledges the key role midwives will continue to play in the delivery of future maternity services to mothers and babies.
