Conduct Of The Minister For Sport

EDM number 329 in 1991-92, proposed by Tom Pendry on 04/12/1991.

That this House notes that the Minister's Estimates for 1992-93 for sport in England show an increase of 4.4. per cent., compared to those for Scotland of 15 per cent. and for Wales of 8.5 per cent., whilst those of the Arts Council are to be increased by 14 per cent.; therefore concludes that the Minister for Sport has totally failed to discharge his duties on behalf of sport; is further concerned that the Minister defends this incompetence by reference to new money for sport being provided by the Foundation for Sport and the Arts, which money equally applies to Scotland, Wales & the Arts and was never intended to be a substitute for Government funding; and believes that he should vacate his post forthwith.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
