Privatisation And Employee Share Ownership

EDM number 350 in 1991-92, proposed by Marion Roe on 05/12/1991.

That this House congratulates the Government on its commitment to the transfer of industrial and commercial public instituitions into the private sector; notes with pleasure the Government's commitment to extending employee share ownership as part of its privatisation programme; therefore looks forward to a substantial equity share stake in the new port companies being held by the employees of the former Trust Ports when they are sold off in their forthcoming privatisation; and calls upon the Government to identify other areas where privatisation could take place to the benefit of those employed and the country as a whole.
