Adas In Wales

That this House expresses its grave concern at the Welsh Office proposal to re-organise the administrative support of ADAS; believes that unnecessary uncertainty is being caused to current employees who do not know whether they face redundancy, compulsory transfer or redeployment; is concerned at reports of ADAS's intention to shed some 30 posts and to withdraw from Llandrindod Wells; Dolgellau, Newtown, Brecon, Pontypool, Haverfordwest and Lampeter and the further prospect of jobs losses at Caernarfon, Carmarthen and Transgoed; and believes that this re-organisation gives a negative signal to farming in Wales and the Secretary of State for Wales should now admit to these plans, discuss them with the trades unions involved and give a clear undertaking that he will preserve local service to farmers and retain jobs in rural Wales.
