Pittenweem Harbour
EDM number 410 in 1991-92, proposed by Menzies Campbell on 16/12/1991.
That this House notes with concern the continuing failure of the Scottish Office to sanction the necessary improvements to Pittenweem Harbour; recognises that these are necessary so as to allow fishermen in the East Neuk of Fife modern fish-handling facilities and also safe access to the harbour itself; condemns the finance based approach of the Scottish Office which seeks to put a price on safety by requiring a notional financial return on the cost of providing a breakwater; and calls upon the Scottish Office to make an early and favourable decision for the redevelopment of Pittenweem Harbour as a necessary step to maintain a village based fishing industry in Fife.
