Sunday Trading-Small Shops

EDM number 435 in 1991-92, proposed by Donald Anderson on 18/12/1991.

That this House is greatly concerned at the increasing evidence of financial and community damage being done to small local shops, particularly the newsagents and convenience stores by the unfair and illegal competition of the food supermarkets on Sundays; and calls again on the Attorney General to enforce the law of the land, and on the Government to reform the law on Sunday trading in a way which fairly balances the various interests and freedoms involved.
