Pharmaceutical Award

EDM number 52 in 1991-92, proposed by Jerry Hayes on 31/10/1991.

That this House recognises the important contribution of the United Kingdom pharmaceutical industry to the health of the nation; notes that the highest award within that industry is the Prix Galien, which is conferred annually on the product `judged to have made the most significant overall contribution to patient care in terms of efficacy, safety and innovation'; and congratulates AMGEN Roche on receiving the 1991 United Kingdom Prix Galien for their product Neupogen, which reduces neutropenia, a potentially life threatening consequence of chemotherapy in cancer patients.
