Progress To Nuclear Disarmament

EDM number 593 in 1991-92, proposed by Bob Cryer on 30/01/1992.

That this House welcomes the decision by Russia no longer to target American cities with nuclear weapons; further welcomes the announcement by the United States Government that it is to stop manufacturing nuclear warheads; and recognises that these two states are acting under the aims of the United Nations Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but is in contrast appalled by the obdurate refusal of the Prime Minister and the Government of the United Kingdom to respond by withdrawing Polaris and replacing the Trident programme with a programme of peaceful investment, to provide secure jobs commensurate with the skills of the workpeople involved.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
