Glasgow Health Report By Dr George Forwell

That this House demands the intervention of Her Majesty's Government to fund an emergency programme to deal with the shocking health report referring to Glasgow, especially the very high mortality rate for the age group before 60 years, the high infant mortality rate, the higher than average long-term illness rate, mostly in areas of deprivation that have been manifested by unemployment, bad housing and poverty; and calls for the abolition of the Social Fund and a much-needed humane grant system, that would eliminate the hardship and despair that has been inflicted on the most vulnerable people in society through the shameful neglect of this uncaring Government.
