Genocide In Myanmar

EDM number 826 in 1991-92, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 06/03/1992.

That this House deplores the genocide of the Karen people in Myanmar; calls upon the Myanmar Government and army to cease the slaughter of innocent women and children, priests and other non-combatants; further calls upon the Myanmar Government to recognise the legitimate claims of the Karen people to release all prisoners of conscience and cede power to the democratically elected government of May 1990; and calls upon the British Government to exert economic and political pressure on the Myanmar Government to bring these changes about.
