Camden

EDM number 828 in 1991-92, proposed by Michael Lord on 06/03/1992.

That this House condemns the failure of the London Borough of Camden and NALGO to resolve their long-running dispute over social workers' pay; notes that, because of this failure, social workers in the Borough have now been on strike for almost one year and that as a result there has been a virtual collapse in the social services in Camden leading to the loss of essential services to the elderly and frail and to children; and believes that this episode is a frightening warning of what Britain under a Labour government would be like, with socialist incompetence and union intransigence combining to destroy services and attack the vulnerable.
